Overview Of SLAM Board Membership
The SLAM Board of Directors is composed of involved individuals, from diverse backgrounds, with vision and commitment, who are willing to work cooperatively and effectively by contributing their talents and resources for the good of the organization. The SLAM Board is governed by bylaws established and approved by the board. At any time, through the guidance and vote of the board, these bylaws can be amended and changed.
Please consider the following individual board member responsibilities when submitting your application:
Responsibilities:
• Attend meetings regularly and show commitment to all board activities
• Be well informed on issues and agenda items in advance of meetings
• Contribute skills, knowledge, and experience when appropriate
• Listen carefully to fellow board members
• Chair one or more ad-hoc committees
• Engage in board activities including fundraising
• Positively represent and promote SLAM within the community
• Avoid conflict of interest and always make decisions based on the best interest of SLAM
• Make an annual financial contribution to SLAM
Expected meeting and festival attendance:
• Attend scheduled monthly board meetings. (Approx. once a month throughout the year) Attending no less than 80% of the meetings without missing two consecutive meetings.
• Direct, coordinate, and attend all ad-hoc committee meetings that of which you are the chair, or that you assist. These are separate from monthly board meetings.
• Attend and participate in the planning and follow-through of festivals, and fundraising/promotional events.
• In the event you can not attend a scheduled board meeting, you must contact one of the directors to inform them of your absence and e-mail them any developments (committee or otherwise) prior to the meeting so that it may be shared with the board.
